Swedish Flower Hen Thread

@Melabella

Wow! Nero's chest is getting so big - what a beauty! I see the poor thing had as rough a winter as ours did on those combs, though. Thank goodness we're out of February!
Thank you! He is filling out like a mature rooster. Yes.. he lost all his points to frostbite. One day I let the flock out in the morning, and was away all day. Foolish I didn't look at the forecast, and it was one of those horrible days that dropped 30 degrees, and with the windchill and sleet, it became unbearable. He was outside when I got home, near dark.. calling for a loner pullet that was disoriented and still out of the coop. The three other roosters were tucked up on the roost, and got nothing, but being the head roo that he is.. he was out guarding and calling. Next morning it was apparent the damage had been done. He's lucky he's still handsome!

There´s some news on my end.
I have 2 broodies, YAY! One has been sitting for 3 days, one for 2:

Put my latest juveniles in the big pen today. They´re now 2 months old. Luck of the draw- got 4 roos and 1 pullet. The girl is very pretty, though, and I´m definitely going to keep her. Can anyone tell me if she´s a snoleopard? She looks like one to me, but I´ve never had one before, and would be surprised to have one turn up in the flock. Either way, she´s beautiful:

And this is one of the boys. I really like him. If he keeps developing nicely, I might keep him as third roo:

And I´ve got chicks hatching in the incubator right now! Two chipmunks are already out. There are 3 more eggs in there, but I´m not sure how many more will make it. My hygrometer broke down, so I had the wrong humidity reading for the first 2 weeks, and I don´t know how much damage it caused. It´s day 22 now, so we´ll see...

Alpine!!!!

That pullet is to die for! SHE IS GORGEOUS! and yes..you have yourself a lovely beautiful Snoleopard pullet!~ She is stunning. I would give anything for one just like her! Congratualtions on your two broodies, another thing I am coveting! I have hatched one of Nero's babies, it turned out to be a gorgeous black based boy. No outward SL expression so far, and I also had a friend hatch one, and it seems that her boy is the same. Black based handsome cockerel.

Do you remember which chick that SL pullet started as? I would love to see a baby pic just for my curiousity!

Thanks!

Melabella-
Thanks for the answer! YAY I got a snoleopard

. She should start laying around August, so book a flight for that time and get a little carry-on for Nero. We´ll let them play a bit and divvy up the eggs!
Balance on my latest hatch: 3 chipmunks, 2 other eggs quit at around 2 weeks.
And: I discovered a THIRD broody today. She was sitting on the eggs still when I checked on them when it was dark outside, so I think it´s serious!
On a more negative note: I´m leaving for Stockholm in a couple weeks and am having trouble organizing hatching eggs. Got a few names from Jan Perden, but they either don´t speak English or don´t have hatching eggs. Was really looking forward to taking some home with me. Anyone out there know of anyone in Sweden I could get some from?

I will ask a girl that is on the FB group who has beautiful birds, she got them from a reputable breeder. SHe lives in Sweden. I can't believe that color on that chick.. they all start out so different. I love it! YOu just never know what they will turn out to be! DId I tell you I got another SL boy from my order of Greenfire Farms chicks? They are 9 weeks now.. and he is growing up wonderful. I love that pullet of yours. I have 13 Bulldogma's SL eggs in the bator due to hatch the 19th! I'm wishing for a pullet! I will send pictures from my phone of the new SL guy.. after I post this. HE looks a bit like your SL girl.
