Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Hi Lisa cute name!
How are the babies doing?
Wow great to hear your chickens shipped in 1 day.

The babies are doing great. They've started going on "outings" with their mama. They still think I'm the devil, but they are doing well and just starting to get their flowers. I'm starting to strategize for winter and where everyone will be housed, water, etc.

I understand that totally. Made s batch of scratch tonight should be good for winter! Weather is crazy here in Ohio sea sawing back & forth from cold to warm. Dreading the time change & cold that is coming. Please send pics of babies to our FB page!!!

Ok how early can SFH's start laying? I have 3 six month old laying hens (of different breeds) that have been laying an egg per day for 2 solid months now. All of a sudden I'm getting 4 eggs per day....uhhh. Is one of my birds laying 2/day or has my young pullet really started laying? Shes 3-3 1/2 mos.

Hi everyone!
So I won an auction from Greenfire Farms for 12 random chicks and ended up getting: 7 Swedish Flower Hens, 5 Cream Legbars, 2 Svart Hona's, and 2 Bielefelders.

My question is, do SFH chicks come in many colors?

I have this one chick that is a light yellow with a light yellow belly, and a black chick with a yellow belly - could those be SFH?

Black and yellow SFH chicks, DEFINITELY! Haven't had an all yellow one yet, though. Someone else will have to answer that one :)

I have had black and yellow chicks, this is one I've kept:
700

It's hard sometimes to know what they'll look like. The more you work with them the easier it gets. The mostly brown pullet turned completely white, then spotted with black before she decided on Mille fluer lol.
The pullets below were all yellow babies from my June hatch they are various colors of brown, some with black and some without:
