I'll take them!!!!!

I candled my 9 eggs last night and seems the air cell is growing. I marked it again and they were all bigger than the last mark. ALL of them were moving around. Lockdown is on Monday.

Before my next hatch I believe I will get a scale also. I've read lots of posts on people who weigh their eggs to make sure they're losing the right amt of weight along with air cell growth.
How does a chicken hatch out eggs with out all these problems?!? I never would have though this would've been so hard.

I'll keep everyone posted!

i was paranoid my first bunch of hatches, but as i've gone along i've learned the less i mess with things, the better... i used to candle frequently, mark air cells, etc. then i set some eggs, had stuff come up and forgot all about the eggs until it was time to go to lockdown... that was one of the best hatch rates i'd had thus far. so now i set eggs, candle once about halfway thru (dry incubation at 15% or so), then put in lockdown usually on day 19 (60% humidity).

but everyone's incubators are different, their locations, where the incubator sets, etc. so what works for 1 might not work for another, and that can even vary between 2 different incubators sitting in the same room! *knock on wood* both of my incubators and the hatcher are set and maintaining temp perfectly, and have been for nearly a year now. the only thing that i adjust is humidity during the winter when the heaters are running, by adding a small container of water with a few small holes in it (1/2 cup capacity, lasts 2-3 weeks before i need to refill it). that adds just enough to compensate for the dryer air.

LOL - If all goes well, I'll have their eggs available this spring!

I had two out of my three eggs in lock down hatch. The one that didn't make it..had two yolks. Interesting it made it as far along as it did.

I'm happy with the two I have..if they are girls. :) One is the black and yellow you see a lot of, but one had blue down the back, with whitish sides. Will be interesting. I'm hoping the black and yellow means..orange and black down the road.

Congrats on your 2 SFH chicks! The blues are quite pretty - it will be fun to see how your babies mature!

Well, I thought it was blue..now that's it's dry, it is white down the middle, with a more cream color all through the sides. Should have waited for the baby to fluff. It has a bit of grey on the head. I had one similar in my last hatch. Maybe it isn't grey, but a bit of blue..oh well, we shall see. I am wondering what these other two I have from the other hatch will be. They look to have a partridge coloring in the wings. One has some white in the wings, the other doesn't.

I will post pictures tomorrow. I think you may be right, should know in a few days when some color should start coming into the wings..that would be great!
That's what just happened with a bantam faverolle I just hatched. It was all yellow. I assumed I had a pure white favorelle. I had different colors other than the norm. salmon color..it now has a lot of blue/grey in the wings..going to be very pretty!
