Swedish Flower Hen Thread

They seem to all be pretty similar with a tanish egg.

Nope, no blue egg genes unless they are a mixed breed.

My SFH egg is the lightest in my hand.

Good Morning! I just got back in from tending to my birds and one of my almost 4 month old SFH roosters is making an aweful sound and flapping his wings....he saw my free range rooster yesterday and the day before and he is acting just like and trying his hardest to crow off against him this morning!!

I know. It's really great fun to listen to their early tries. My two youngest are about that age and the will stand comb to comb and have a contest! It reminds me of that crowing scene in Peter Pan and Peter really has to work with the Lost Boys because their efforts are so terrible. I just saw Cap'n Jack dancing a little this morning too. Seems pretty early but my Flowers have done everything a little early.

My babies are here! I have 6 new fluffies! One blondie, two strawberry blondes and three auburns. I have one black one that is about a week older that came from a local person (we had 2, but one died unexpectedly). They already have some wing feathers. They are chirping away in the dining room, where I stuck the brooder.

The photo does not show their color very well. My Nikon had to visit the shop :(

Adorable!!!!

I got the first egg from my young SFH pullets today. At 23 weeks and two days, it was a little later than my first one who laid her first at 19 1/2 weeks. It was a tiny little thing, but its a start! I have 16 pullets ranging from 23 weeks to about 18 weeks so should have lots of eggs soon.

mine *thanks to Bulldogma* won't be hatching for a bit more... she's got some under broodies and i've got 8 in the 'bator that went in tuesday.
