I purchased the chicks at an auction this spring. The box said SFH but anything is possible. I sort of wondered about the fact that I hadn't seen any others with coloring like it but there are so many varieties it's hard to tell. I appreciate your honesty. I am only keeping SFH roo's so if people don't think he is then he will be looking for a new home. I do like his coloring though. The 'light' one is crested, just a very tiny crest. To be honest, & I am not claiming to be an expert- but it does not look like a 100% SFH to me. Something about the barred looking coloring- this is not something I've seen in SFH's, the head looks different too. It looks more like my Basque roo that's about the same age as this one here. The other 2 do look SFH to me. Is is possible it's a mix? Maybe someone else can chime in on this???
As to your question on the fish, yes you can give it to them. If they won't eat it raw, you can always boil it all down & give to them- excellent source of extra protein! Personally I boil it down & then add to the fermented feed that I already give. Also boiling it down good softens everything making it easier to digest.
