Moving day! Chicks went from their rubbermaid brooder box in house to their pen in the garage.

I didn't really start to see the crests until about 3.5 weeks. Some weren't obvious until a week or two later.
Beautiful chicks, Knock Kneed Hen!

I am trying to figure out how many roos I ended up with in this last hatch. The none-crested ones are pretty obvious now, but I'm not so sure of the crested ones. Here are some head shots. I'm pretty sure Carina and Hanna are roos, and pretty sure Adrian, Annike, Elsa, Inga and Johanna are pullets. I'm leaning toward roos for Beata and Stella. What do you all think?

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Hi KYT, yes the non-crested ones are pretty obvious at a very young age. The crested ones are much harder for me.
I would say that Beata is a cockerel and with those red wattles I'd lean towards cockerel for Stella too. Here's a pic I took of my
9 week olds today. They vacated the garage pen so the younger ones could move in and are now in the coop. You can
see how "Sorrel", the non crested chick is so obviously a cockerel. "Clary" is also a cockerel as I've heard him crow, but he
doesn't have the big comb that his brother does. Red wattles give him away too.

ETA this pic of "Sorrel". Although he looks grey in this pic, he's actually black.

Who all do you know that is currently breeding and selling SFH hatching eggs? Also, since they are new to the U.S., are people breeding for improving/eliminating specific traits to achieve a certain standard? or just breeding to increase quantify at this point? To achieve ideal traits for the breed where can I find a SOP for them... Beautiful birds. I think I have decided they will be part of my next hatch when that time comes...
Thanks!

I can only speak for myself. I got my eggs from Duemig10 who,of course, got her birds from GFF. I will breed for diversity, eliminating any undesired traits such as crooked toes and crossed beaks or birds that are mean.

I didn't find out until afterward that my ex-wife had undesired traits. She had a forked tongue and crooked toes. After that I made all my dates take their shoes off!

In fact her whole family had crooked toes. You should have seen them at the beach.

I immediately cull for crooked toes. Reminds me to much of her.
