Swedish Flower Hen Thread

He really did turn out pretty. I have a red/white one too, but he turned out like the typical coloring of a red body and white head and tail.

I wish AI was possible with chickens, lol.

Guess I should have clarified...shipped or frozen semen. If that is possible, it might be a way to spread desirable genes around. Like if I could collect, extend and cool my black rooster's semen to ship to you, that would be too cool. (I used to breed horses. The stallion manager would collect semen for me, process it, and express it, and I would inseminate my mares, ovulate them and pray).

My bantam Cochins get it done, lol. I am not sure how though.

WOW Bernie56!!! That is one gorgeous roo!
I'm like you, I prefer the darker, more dramatic and splashy coloring and will be steering away from the red/white pattern.
I do have a friend, though, who has a red white roo that she loves, so we have put 3 black patterned hens with him and I am very curious to see what we get from them this spring.
Most of what I hatched are pale in coloration ( I have a red foundation roo) so I have 2 dark MF boys with those girls to hopefully darken the offspring.

Hello all,
I have a flock of 11 SFH from GFF that hatched 10-14. One roo obvious @ a young age. I'm hoping for some confirmation regarding pullets.
This is a poor picture but you can see the color of the roo and his happy little comb. Popped right out there. A pullet was photobombing him and took the focus

He isn't very flashy but I'm hoping for some spectacular hens. I am happy with his crest!

The next three pictures are all of the same bird. I'm hoping it's a pullet but it does have a little tiny bubble comb coming out. Thoughts? I will post other birds individually to avoid confusion. Thanks!

The next one is just cause I think her feathers are pretty!

On to the next hopeful pullet. This one has no visible comb. Love the pattern though. She looked like a finch at first. Kids even named her finch. Am I right?

First boy is not SFH - GFF messed up and sent you the wrong eggs. SFH are NEVER barred - and that one is. Check their other breeds - it looks familiar - but it is not a SHF. Edited to add guess - Crested Creme Legbar?

Second bird is boy too - too red for a girl.

Girl so far, I have one very similar. Crested ones are harder to tell - and will take longer to mature.

Not doing all the birds right now. Promise

Another little worrisome bubble comb

Another boy. Too red.
