Hmm...then my rooster is excessively ready for breeding.Experienced people correct me if I am wrong , but the red in the legs to my understanding is a sign that they are fertile and ready for breeding
Okay...now do they have YELLOW LEGS or are they more like "little black"? What is your opinion of little black? (BTW, the lady that I got them from got her eggs from YOU & BHEP.... so this kiddo could be one of yours.)Yesterday I hatched 3 SFH and 3 Black Orps from my own eggs. The first one out was a SFH and it was black. It looks identical to my 3 black orps, right down to the gray legs. There is no possible way that it is a mix - the two breeds are housed at least 250 feet apart with a house and a pool in between them. And no mistaking the egg it came from, either. I will try to get pictures later today or tomorrow. I sure hope it doesn't take 6 months or more before I can tell the difference!![]()
Nice YELLOW legs on those kiddos! So, let's continue the "Little Black" discussion. Here are the five "black" SFH chicks I have in the brooder right now. They range from 1 to 2 weeks old, I took these today.
Don'tcha love the little crests?
