Swedish Flower Hen Thread

And now, OFF the "Little Black" subject, here are two non-black SFH chicks I have in my brooder. Took these today, these two hatched the same day and are 2 weeks old.

One is feathering in faster than the other. Wonder if this is an indication of sex? Your thoughts?

Experienced people correct me if I am wrong , but the red in the legs to my understanding is a sign that they are fertile and ready for breeding
Hmm...then my rooster is excessively ready for breeding.

Yesterday I hatched 3 SFH and 3 Black Orps from my own eggs. The first one out was a SFH and it was black. It looks identical to my 3 black orps,

right down to the gray legs. There is no possible way that it is a mix - the two breeds are housed at least 250 feet apart with a house and a pool in between them. And no mistaking the egg it came from, either. I will try to get pictures later today or tomorrow. I sure hope it doesn't take 6 months or more before I can tell the difference!
Okay...now do they have YELLOW LEGS or are they more like "little black"? What is your opinion of little black? (BTW, the lady that I got them from got her eggs from YOU & BHEP.... so this kiddo could be one of yours.)

ETA: Whoops...I see you said they are GRAY.

So, let's continue the "Little Black" discussion. Here are the five "black" SFH chicks I have in the brooder right now. They range from 1 to 2 weeks old, I took these today.

Don'tcha love the little crests?

Nice YELLOW legs on those kiddos!

KY - could you post photos as they grow from week to week? I just saw you said the legs are gray.

LITTLE BLACK MAY BE ONE OF YOURS. The gal that hatched got her eggs from you and bhep.

That would be wonderful!!!!!
