Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Bucked up and ordered Icelandics and Swedish Flower Hen eggs from the same seller (great ratings) off of E-bay. One day from landing in Alaska to my doorstep - but they hung out in Washington State for four long days. My postal carrier went back to the office and scrounged around to find them, then called from my driveway to let me know she found them. Wish everyone who worked at USPS was that cool.

The eggs are in the incubator now. A new brooder is being built in the garage. I haven't had this much anxiety since having a baby.

Looking out the window at a foot of new snow. I wish I was making this up. Still have two feet of it in the yard. Where is that Al Gore and his Nobel Peace Prize for warning us all about Global Warming. I have an Inconvenient Truth I would like to share with him!

Bummer! I hope the others are good! I candled my 20 SFH swap eggs today, and it looks like 18 of 20 are developing. They are due the same day as yours. Best of luck to you!

I'm going to candle tomorrow and see what is going on in the remaining eggs.

I'm getting worried about the lone surviving SFH in the Silkie coop. No pipping. I don't hear anythng when I hold it to my ear. The hen has been so, so good. TSC ran our of red silk links and only has White Leghorn pullets, and I'm not a fan of them. So I'll scrounge around and see what else is available in pullet only around here.

Well guys here is the crested pullet I decided on to take to the fair and she will be judged tonight ( judge knows and raises a small trio of Swedish Flower Hens what are the chances of that??)

I couldnt have been happier while talking to the judge at check in yesterday! AND the SFH I took over there CAN be rewarded because I classified them in a EXTREMLY RARE BREED CLASS as judge told me I Should!! So we shall see what happens! Wish me luck this will be the first SFHs in show!
