Leahs Mom has 2 boys on the way to her!

She's getting my chocolate boy!

And a boy that I think will knock her socks off - despite the fact that he has a small comb sprig.

Even at this point you can see how amazing the black boy is and how pretty the chocolate is!

I will have an upset stomach until I know these boys arrived safely!

Hi Guys, thanks for the responses.
Candled the remaining 6 eggs. I saw movement in one, so I put that one back in and didn´t open it. Will open it tomorrow if it hasn´t hatched on its own by then.
The remaining 5 weren´t moving, so I opened them. They had all died at different stages, I´d guess at around 14-20 days. Not sure what happened there. Have had good experiences with this bator. Even had a 100% hatch rate once with my own eggs. The only thing I did differently was use the dry incubation method, and I followed the instructions exactly. I think they must have somehow just been damaged by the shipping (the remaining 9 that didn´t develop all had loose air cells that didn´t reattach). That was the last time I order hatching eggs by mail. What a disappointment.
Who knows? We´re thinking of visiting Sweden in the Spring; maybe I could find a good breeder and take some eggs back home with me!
Hoping the last one will hatch, haven´t had many hatch on day 23 before, though. I´ve got a Brahma Girl who has chicks right now, she´d probably adopt it so it wouldn´t be alone (she even adopted a duckling once).
Wishing Melabella more luck!
Drat Alpine,,,,, so sorry that you are having this bum luck with your shipped eggs. Most of the shipped eggs that I have tried have not had such great rates either. Leighs are the best ratio's I have experienced so far. Thank you for the wish for luck on my hatch! I am so hopeful all goes well, and that I get some girls this time,... so far I only have 2 pullets! Yikes! Please keep us posted on how your little lone egg does. I only had one hatch on my try with Isbar eggs. She is a beauty though!

I just saw your update post. So sorry :(

In my experience shipped eggs are rarely successful. Such a gamble. When the hatch goes well it causes the worst gambling addiction!
Truer words rarely spoken! I am in need of intervention therapy.

Gosh I love that black boy. I hope my Black based babies growing out right now turn out like him. SO pretty. Is the black chick in the picture him?
Just called the PO. The guy said, "2 roosters? That's one we haven't had before! We've had hens..."

They're supposed to call as soon as they arrive.
HA HA.. .that is funny. Are they together in one box, or in two separate boxes? Can't wait to hear how this goes. Good Luck!!!!

They're in the same box. They are hatchmates and get along really well.

The boys have arrived. After being a day late and worrying 2 chicken mammas.... :D

Even after a long ride in a box, they seem to be in good spirits!

These were some hungry boys! First thing they did was eat non-stop for about 20 minutes!

Now they're checking things out.

Now they're starting the classic pacing back and forth in front of the doorway. THEY ARE SWEDES AND THEY WANT OUT TO RUN THE RANGE! RIGHT NOW, DARN IT!

They also recognize the sound of the jar lid on the mealworm jar already

LOL - yes, those boys have been free ranged since they were pretty young. I'm thrilled to hear they feel so well!
And you're spoiling them!
(I'm so glad!)

I got this hen with the poof from a breeder. the roo in the back ground and the other chicks are just friends of the SFH.
Very cute!

How old is this bird? It seems to have a vaulted skull which is fine as long as you don't breed it with any crested birds. This trait can be fatal for chicks as it can make it harder for them to hatch.

Also - watch that heat lamp. Your birds shouldn't be able to get anywhere near the light or it could start a fire - it can also burn off your crested birds crest.

If that bird is younger than about 13 weeks, I would guess it might be a roo. But perhaps the poufy, cute crest just makes it look younger than it really is?
