Swedish Flower Hen Thread

I am ruining this chick. I can tell already it's gonna be a lap chicken. I open the roof and it comes running. It absolutely loves to be held and bitches when I put it back. My dogs love it, and you should see my 80 lbs Boxer protect it.

So cute!

As a young girl, and still, I study horse conformation and live learning all the different breeds. With my new chicken obsession, this seemed like a logical early birthday present! Yippie!
the APA standard is a great reference for a lot of things, but just a reminder that the sfh will likely never be accepted into the standard as it is right now, because the breed has so many color variations and does not conform to a single set description. the physical aspects we can solidify, but the color is just too variable.

Congrats and early happy birthday!
I'm SOOOOO jealous! I really would love to have one of these to help me with the breed illustrations!
I'm saving up...
Leigh, I've got one. if you need something from it let me know, I can help you out.

Thanks for all this info on SFC - I just picked up a craigslist cockerel...the cold hardiness appealed to me, and my flock needs an alpha roo pretty badly, so I'm hoping!

Okay...here are some new photos of the boys. They'll be 19 weeks next Tuesday.

Having some yogurt. Couldn't get close enough to get the "yogurt mustaches" and the yogurt strip on the Mahogany boy's comb :D

I wasn't able to get a really good photo of chocolate today but here's what I got.

Now THIS GUY, seems to always be ready for a photo-op.

Day 7, just candled.

Good news: 14 out of my 18 eggs are developing nicely in the IncuView.

Bad news: The 4 clears I removed were all SFH, argh! They were all the exact same shape and color so I'm guessing that pullet was not getting any love.

Oh well I've got 6 SFH left, I'm gonna hope for the best.
