Great to know that the breed has made it across the Atlantic and that you're helping to preserve it :thumbsup These are my girls :love Best wishes from Sweden [/quote Hi, I'm in Austria and will probably be visiting Stockholm in May and would like to take some hatching eggs home with me. Are you anywhere near Stockholm and would sell hatching eggs?

Quote: Sorry, I don't have a rooster yet so no hatching eggs...Also I'm in a different part of Sweden. Try getting in touch with "Svenska lanthönsklubben" which is the organization responsible for preserving the breed in Sweden. You find their website at www.kackel.se and the person who is in charge of The Swedish Flower Hen is called Jan Perdén. Maybe he is able to help you finding eggs somewhere near Stockholm. Good luck!

Thank you! I'll keep you posted on the progress of my gals. Maybe it's just a matter of time before your daughter will call herself Chickenanya too...

Hey everyone, thanks for all the encouraging words! Good news: the one chick I assisted that had inner pipped at the wrong end seems to be getting stronger; I think she´s going to be OK, so I have 4! Here are some pics of all of them together:

Oh my goodness! You got 2 with racing stripes!! They are beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing LOTS of photos of these babies as they grow out!

Welcome! Your girls are just beautiful!

I have actually inquired about importing eggs or live birds recently and Jan was unable to help me, sadly. There are a number of us in the US who would love to get some new bloodlines into our country. We LOVE these birds!

I am so addicted that I even made a Pepparkakor Hönshus for them.

@Bulldogma
When you moved, how long did it take for your birds to become accustomed to their new home? Did you see signs of stress on the flock? Maybe it's not comparing apples to apples, but I moved the flock to the barn pens today and I know that moving is a stress for a flock. Add to that the coming drop in temperatures and not getting to go outside for the next week at least (until they get used to the new home) and I'm wondering just how much stress that's putting them under and what to expect.

@KYTinpusher
I'm not sure if that egg was one of the pullets or not. Just got one then no more. And as I was saying, I just moved everyone into new housing for winter today so I wonder about the stress factor now and how that will affect their laying.

@KYTinpusher Sorry for the delayed response! I'd love to swap eggs sometime. We are in the Paintsville area but we're in Lexington all the time. It'll need to be next spring, though, because right now they're not separated from our Dominiques and I don't want to give you cross breed eggs!
