@Alpine Chicken such cute chicks! I'm getting excited for my hatch. I just saw two of my SFH eggs wiggling! I'm still 5 days away from hatch but I think they might hatch earlier than the rest because the eggs are smaller.

Oh my goodness! You got 2 with racing stripes!! They are beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing LOTS of photos of these babies as they grow out!

Welcome! Your girls are just beautiful!

I have actually inquired about importing eggs or live birds recently and Jan was unable to help me, sadly. There are a number of us in the US who would love to get some new bloodlines into our country. We LOVE these birds!

I am so addicted that I even made a Pepparkakor Hönshus for them.

Thanks Bulldogma! I love your Pepparkakor Hönshus!

I actually make a ginger bread house every Christmas. I guess this year it will have to be a ginger bread chicken coop

Hey everyone, thanks for all the encouraging words! Good news: the one chick I assisted that had inner pipped at the wrong end seems to be getting stronger; I think she´s going to be OK, so I have 4! Here are some pics of all of them together:

So glad the little one is doing better! And those stripes are adorable! We'll need lots of pictures as they grow up.

Great to know that the breed has made it across the Atlantic and that you're helping to preserve it

Where did you get the eggs...are these Leighs?
I believe she got them from Germany - or they are from her own flock. But I think Germany if I remember correctly. Aren't they adorable?? (I haven't exported any to Austria yet

@Bulldogma
When you moved, how long did it take for your birds to become accustomed to their new home? Did you see signs of stress on the flock? Maybe it's not comparing apples to apples, but I moved the flock to the barn pens today and I know that moving is a stress for a flock. Add to that the coming drop in temperatures and not getting to go outside for the next week at least (until they get used to the new home) and I'm wondering just how much stress that's putting them under and what to expect.
LM - yes - there was some stress... bullying, pacing, a slow down in egg production... it took a few weeks for things to normalize again.

My lone survivor chick will be a month old this weekend. Thought I would share a couple pics as well as it's coop progress.

Great looking coop so far! And a very cute cockerel!

@Leahs Mom
You have probably mentioned this, but how much space do they have in terms of free ranging? Try giving them more space if needed and/or giving them some sort of entertainment to distract the guilty parties!
