i live in campbellsville KY so its about a 2 hour drive

I drove that far to get mine. Definitely worth the trip. They slept all the way home!

Well we lost one of our 4 week old chicks this week.

It was one of the black chicks, Kaja, a cockerel, I think.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

To console myself, I took one month pictures of the other nine chicks to remind myself how really blessed we are. (Boy is it getting tough to get them to sit still for pictures!) In the next couple of days I'm going to try to get pics of our 5 two month olds. I have updated the progressive pictures on my BYC page if you want to see how they have grown - it is AMAZING the changes! If I wasn't documenting the changes as they grow, I would have a hard time recognizing which chick grew into which chicken, at least for most of them.

We have six crested ones and I'm guessing 6 or 7 pullets, but it is still a bit early to know for sure. I'm pretty sure Carina and Hanna are cockerels, and possibly Beata.

TWO HOURS?!!! Heck I drove farther than that one way to get my Dels and Marans and Lav orps. I wish I only had to drive that far. And I paid more the for the Lav orps. Took the whole day for those.

I'll look into the brinsea and the reptile light, though the red is working ok. Some times I think it gets to hot though.

I can't wait to see if any of these SFH chicks have poofs.

Today is day 2 for my eggs...

I'm already resisting the urge to candle.

I'm so excited about these guys, I hope hope hope I have a decent hatch rate.

KYT, aw, so sorry you lost one. It's sad, especially 4 wks into it...you get attached.

Your chicks are so cute. So many crested ones!! I like the progressive pics. Thanks for sharing!!
