Here's some pics of my 9-week-olds. Somehow I missed getting Maja when I took photos today, but I will make sure I get him tomorrow! (We really need to change his name to something masculine

Hey Jeremy (fellow Bay Area person!) and crew - new to this thread - I have 6 SFH eggs on day 13 and going strong...fingers crossed as these are the only eggs out of 15 received to grow. Fingers crossed for more pullets than roos as sadly I cannot have roos in my area...

Jeremy - keep us posted on your hatch. I lock down on Sun 18th. Nervous, nervous. Have done lots of hatching with good results, but more anxious than usual on this one...

boogiedog, it's awesome to see another Oaklander on BYC and even better to know that you've caught the Swedish Flower Hen bug, too.

I'll definitely keep you (and others) updated on how my hatch goes, who did you get your eggs from?

Where are you in Oakland? Have you checked out the Bay Area thread?

I just read your sig line... you have llamas?!?

Hey Jeremy, I'm in the Glenview - and yep, I have 4 alpacas in my backyard along with my dogs and chickens...my own little farm. Love it! Where are you located?

BTW I have well over 20 breeds of chickens currently and way, way to many in 3 incubators and 2 brooders...had to build a second coop and run. Let me know if you are needing any breeds, I might have them

I'll check out the thread you listed - hadn't seen it before.

Sorry all for going off topic...

Great pics KYT! I have a sister Kirsten, cousins Sonia, Kaisa, Johannah and great grandmother Hannah. The Finnish influence in our family. I guess somewhere there must be some Swedish too.

One of my 8 week olds is definitely a roo, but the second one I'm not sure of. I'm saying she because it's looking like I'll have 4 boys and 4 girls....I NEED this to be a she!

Not as big a comb as the roo, but the wattles are turning red. Do you notice that with your pullets?

I got excited and typed the wrong word!

We only have chickens at home right now, well chickens, a corgi and a few cats. In the spring we're adding ducks.

I'm always looking for new breeds, we've got a few dozen here, I'll PM you and we can chat more.

~Aspen

Thank you, Aspen! Give me a few months and I'll have eggs for the WYGS!

As promised, here is a picture of Maja. Sorry about the rear forward picture, but it is the best view I have of his beautiful hackle feathers coming in. I think the next several weeks are going to be exciting as their colors keep changing. Just curious - most of my chicks seem to have a lot of white compared to the parents. For those who have grown SFH from chicks, have yours been heavy on the white when they're young, and then lose most of it as they grow?

I set 11 eggs 3 weeks ago... its hatch day! So far have 3 out, 2 more zips and 2 more pips. The ones that are out are so active they keep shifting the other eggs around so there might be more pips... can't wait to get home from work and see what the day has brought!! Will post pics once everyone is out, dry and fluffy
