Knock...wow! Beautiful..love that last picture...what are they doing. At first, I thought, because of the board, they were trying to be in the shade, but shade is on the other side of them.

LOL - that was my train of thought too! Are they sunning themselves on a cool morning? It's so funny with the way they are all lined up just so!

What beautiful birds! Thank you so much for sharing these pictures.

I have places for them to hide if they see a hawk. There had been a hawk pass over and they kept running to their pen. They finally decided to heck with it and just tucked under the board. Pretty smart for as young as they are. I find this bird to be very aware of it's surroundings. While my mixed flock sit out in the open not paying any attention, my flowers are always ducking for cover.

I have the exact same experience. My SFHs range all over the pasture and out to the hay field. The forage great. And my poor silkie wanders around lost. They are also very quick to respond when I call for them. They all come running and my poor silkie stands in the middle of the field looking around with a bewildered expression, "Where'd everybody go?"

Ha, exactly. I am planning to take the Silkie out of this younger group and put it in with the other Silkies, older birds, in a tractor. I just can't trust them to make their way back, even though Alien somehow does; I'm afraid they will leave him behind though! Every night, I have to round a couple Silkies up. But the barnyard birds and the SFH all put themselves back. I do a quick count and lock the coop.

I am guessing the first photo is not a PB SFH chick. But I'm not sure. Which makes it kind of worrisome to buy eggs or chicks, kwim. What if you think you have PB birds but you don't.
