Swedish Flower Hens

I am so jealous...I only have one crested, so far....gotta see how my chicks feather out...

It was intresting considering they are 1) chickens, 2) never been taught that, we always just rip it up and watch them chase each other for bread! It will be intresting to see what else they come up with, I got them as juveniles in March

I was once partof a group of folks that had started a Yahoo group and was trying to import the Swedish Flower Hens.
I am not sure what happened but everything fizzled. I think the group is now defunct.

Importing birds is a beech of an issue. Me and my sis were working on importing Silver Duckwing Welsummers. You have to find someone who is willing to have their farm inspected, which of course you will pay for, and you will pay for the farmers time, and if they need vaccination of all the birds on the farm your paying for that too, and for the time taken to do the vaccinations. I think that is why most of us fail. If you are just working on the internet trying to neogotiate and a faceless person they person your trying to purchase from is most likely going to jack that price up to ridiculous levels. Then you start paying for all the health certifications, then the charges for paper work to be filed in both countries, then the airline fee, and quarantine fee. It is a true investment.

I think If you travel over to Europe or where ever you meet with the farmer, you talk to them, you talk to the vet, even help out with stuff like vaccinating birds. At that point you have created a person to person deal vs a faceless deal. You still will pay enough to buy a brand new off the lot car. I personally am not into that kind of long term commitment. I will just find the people who are bringing them in and buy them from that person.
