Hi everyone!
I let my Buff Brahma hen sit some eggs, and her baby hatched! I know it's hers because her chick has inherited her feathery legs. Its daddy is a Swedish Flower Rooster.

This their colorings for now! I was wondering what yall think of how they'll be colored as they age?

Thanks so much!

I honestly have no idea what they could grow to look like. Genetics can be a tricky thing, ya know?
Please keep us updated! I'm really interested to see how they grow up. :D

Does the swedish flower rooster have mottling? If he does then that chick will not show it since it is recessive. The brahma traits will mostly come out on the chick I'm guessing. It would mostly look like the mother.

Also it depends what the father's coloring is. If he is red then the dominant buff would show up in the chick.

The father was mottled. :) If you look at a Calico cochin, he looked like that - just a Swedish Flower. His feather base is black, the middle is white, and the top is buff. His feet feathers have more colors than his body coloring, mostly greys and gold, but I like him!

The reds are coming through on his wings, but he has more specks of black on his neck than his mom does. Hers aren't even really visible.

Thought I'd post an update since it's been a while! He's roughly three months old. :)
