Sweedish Blue Ducks

We bought a male and female duck last year and they have been great pets so far. The female started laying eggs at 10 months old then a few weeks after starting to lay her eggs she made a nest and laid 17 eggs, 3 ducklings survived they were born in Oct 2011, but since then she hasnt laid any eggs. Is this normal? she normally laid 1 a day till she had her ducklings. The duckings have gone now and we are back with the male and female again (Ann and Don). I still see the male trying to fertilise the female but no eggs.... Please help. Michelle

She will lay again. Probably in the very near future.

She might be hiding a nest, or it might just be too early in the season for her. Laying is triggered by the length of daylight. Days are getting longer. Be patient.

Hi thanks for the reply but i leave in New Zealand not America and our season is summer going into Autum. How many eggs are they supposed to have in a year? They stay near our house and potter around our back door/yard they dont go out the garden..
