sweet PDZ granules in a brooder

is it a good idea and safe to use sweet PDZ in a brooder? I have been VERY impressed with using it under the roosts in my coop and remember the shavings getting really bad really quickly...it would be great to just be able to scoop poop with a catbox scoop in the brooder.

I had the same idea when my 'fluffy little darlings' first started to act like half grown gangsters and wrecked the brooder every day.
I was assured that it was safe, however someone pointed out that I was likely to go through a good bit of it because they can be sooooo messy and that it would get really expensive. I decided to go with sawdust/shavings and just strip it to the bare wood every other day.

Large wood shavings are the best thing to use.
They won't be in a brooder all that long, and shavings are cheap
