Sweet PDZ or zeolite as bedding, not just additive?

I have a coop on the smaller side, about 5x5, and the floor is raised so I don’t have the option of doing a poop board set up. Believe me, I tried. I tried the river or construction sand and I’m not loving it. The poop gets kind of breaded, for lack of a better word, and unless I clean it out right away it breaks up and I can’t sift out just the poop. Has anyone ever heard of using zeolite (Sweet PDZ, Stall Dri) as an actual litter or bedding? I know ppl use it on poop boards. Wondering if I’m crazy to think of using it over the whole floor. I used it as an additive to shavings and with sand but I don’t find its controlling the odor with the sand like I’d hoped. When I used it with shavings I had almost no smell.

I have PDZ on poop boards. Since you can't do poop boards, I'd consider you whole floor a giant poop board and cover it with PDZ. I'm assuming you do have roosts and nesting boxes?

My coop floor is covered in pine shredings/mulch. When we added the poop boards, I tried to 'clean' the pine shredings as much as possible. Wasn't that easy to do (used a rake turned over, to sift). The PDZ is much easier to clean. You could use a extra extra long kitty litter scoop like the Goliath

Yep, have seen small coops use it as primary floor bedding.
Get the granulated kind, the powder is too dusty.
Not sure about Stall Dri, check the ingredients, some are just powdered clay and DE.
PDZ is zeolite, which neutralizes ammonia.
Yes, poops will get 'breaded'(and I helped!).
Depending on what kind of sifter you use, you won't get it all out.
My poop boards are 22sqft, almost as big as your coop floor.
I keep the PDZ thin(<1/4") and sift it all every day, adding more PDZ as the 'breading' reduces the depth.

Here's some posts about my set up and tools, they're kind of old, but changes are noted.
...and the threads these posts are in has a ton of examples of poop boards.

Yes there are 2 roost bars and 3 nest boxes as part of the coop set up. It has double doors that open so I can pretty much reach the whole floor area just fine.

Thanks! I use the granulated kind now and the kind I get is just a different name but it’s zeolite only. Might give it a shot if it doesn’t work I’m not out too much
