Sweet PDZ versus DRYSTALL? for odor

Won't swear to this, but believe I remember reading that Sweet PDZ is a zeolite, whilst the DryStall is a mixture of DE and clay. The DryStall would be more useful strictly for soaking up moisture, and due to the DE, some degree of drying and odor control. The zeolite has the capacity to actually bind the ammonia and also adsorb large quantities of moisture. In short, DryStall is good at drying, while Sweet PDZ should take care of ammonia smells. Since a large part of ammonia odor is due to moisture content, I'm thinking that either should do the trick.

We used stalldry untill our store dropped it then they picked up sweet pdz. They both work well for deep liter but we seem to use less pdz than we used stalldry. We keep our de for mite controll because of its expense.

Just a reminder that if you select sweet PDZ it comes in granules and powder.

I like the powder as the granules get swept up with the poo when I scrape in my coop and so a lot is wasted.
Hello again (you helped save my babies from coccidiosis)

Up here in Northern Minnesota, I will have to drive hours to get Sweet PDZ. And they (Tractor Supply) only have the granules and in the 25 pound bags....not the powder form, which I understand is better b/o less waste. I'm just wondering that if I used it only in the poop collector box shelf (under the roost) and used the kitty litter scoop then would the granule form be less wasted as it seems that the granules is all I'm going to be able to get. (Unless I pay $42 for 40 pounds through a dealer on Amazon) the 25 lb bag of granules at the store is less than $10.00. (Want to sweeten up the coop)

Well if you are using a kitty litter scoop you might like the granules ok. I'd try a bag out to see!

The granules are very small. My method of using a plastic rake to scrape just collected the granules too, and thus I went through a lot of it too quickly.
