Swelling at base of Pekin's bill

I didn't realize I had notifications in here. Melvin seems to be doing better. He's been acting like a little terror again in the last 36 hours (which is normal for him). His vet said that it's somewhat common for them to get debris under their tongues. Before putting him on antibiotics we're trying to "rinse" his mouth. So I've continued adding apple cider vinegar to his water. We've also done sea salt in warm water and he's being monitored whenever he eats. The swelling has gone down to about half the size it was a few days ago. If it goes back up and/or feels warm again, he'll have to go in.
Thank you for asking

Thank you for replying some times when we don't hear we think the worst, so I am happy for good news that Melvin is doing better. and the swelling is going down. And he is getting back to his terrorizing self. lol

I appreciate the concern. It's nice to have found a group that understands the bond between person and duck :)
Yes...the change in his behaviour actually concerned me as much as, if not more than, the swelling did. He's a little jerk sometimes, but he's my little jerk :)

I have one of those too, imprinted on me and my husband he's almost 4 yrs old and I cannot imagine life without him. They are annoyingly precious. Keep us updated on how he is doing and hopefully he'll be good as new very soon.
