Switching from Crumbles to Pellets?

If you have switched from crumbles to pellets, how long did it take for them to start eating the pellets really well. Crumbles is too much waste on the ground. They either scratch it out of their wall trough, or turn the bowl over and dump it out on the ground. Next bag Im buying pellets. They arent eating much right now coz they get plenty of bugs and such.

we switch back and forth- whatever the feed mill has on hand. My chickens don't seem to mind it. I have noticed they do better with anything that they can't scratch at. So it really does help to have a hanging feeder. our hanging feeder holds a 50lb bag of feed and I put it about 4 inches off the ground.
