I've searched and couldn't locate an answer so I apologize if this is a repeat of another post.

When transitioning from starter to grower (both in crumble form) can I just start with the grower when I'm ready, or do I need to mix them half/half to aid in their transition?

It's from same manufacturer (Texas naturals). The starter is higher in protein (20%) versus the grower (18%).

I just wanted to know if I needed to mix the starter and grower together as I'm winding down my last week or two of starter feed. (Chicks are 10 weeks but I have starter left which I plan to use).

Hope what I'm asking makes sense! Thanks.

Just go cold turkey.

It is common advice with dogs, cats, horses, chickens etc., to gradually switch feeds to avoid digestive upset. In 4 decades, with all of the above species and more, I have NEVER gradually switched feeds and never had an animal show any sign of digestive upset. When a bag of feed is emptied, a new one is opened and poured into the steel can and I start feeding from it immediately. If anything, I think they enjoy a change of flavor once in a while.

Thank you! I was worried because we are going out of town and the transition may happen while I'm not here. I didn't want them to get upset while mama is away! Maybe for peace of mind I can get enough starter to make sure we make it through the chicken sitter.

Your chicken's taste buds can't tell the difference between starter and grower so tell whoever is feeding them while you are out of town to just load up the feeders.
Hope this helps.
