It sounds like she might have had ascites (i.e. water belly), which is a fluid build up in the adomen usually caused by congestive heart failure or fatty liver disease. I have a silver laced wyandotte that has had ascites for two years and every four to six months I have to take her to the vet to get her abdomen drained. Her problem is caused by fatty liver so I have to restrict her diet and she takes milk thistle extract for her problem. I hope this doesn't happen to you again, but if you have a bird with similar symptoms, she may have ascites.
