Swollen comb

My Henrietta has a very swollen comb, one side. It had a nasty black scab on it, that I removed, hoping it was containing pus, it wasn't. It is hard. Any suggestions? I have her isolated now. I'm new at raising chickens, I live very rural so vet is not an option.

Do you have pictures of her comb? It sounds like she may have suffered an injury or bad peck wound.

It's nasty looking. She's had it about 2 or 3 weeks now.
