Hello everyone, help needed. We have a young rooster (4-5 months old), who has been sick maybe for a month already. Last month i saw that is eye was looking weird, it was bubbling, i posted the photos here, got some replies that it could be coryza or mycoplasma. At first i tried to give some eye medicine, that we had bought for chickens, but it only helped a little bit, then we gave him antibiotics, but it also did not really help (we gave doxycyclin, maybe thats why it didnt help). Last weekend i saw that his face had swelled, and it looked really dry. I put some vaseline to make it a little bit moisturised, and the next day i went to the pharmacy to grab some medicine for fungus, because i looked at some pictures and posts here, and it looked like favus, so i thought maybe that would help. Used it for maybe two days, when i saw that the skin where i put the medicine looked like it had some almost like burn marks (my guess is that the medicine for favus did that). Yesterday his eye looked worse again, and i used the same medicine for his eye, again.. today it looks a little bit better. some of our other chickens are also sick, theyre coughing and breathing weirdly, so we are giving all of them antibiotics for that, tomorrow is the last day, and then we are going to give them vitamins and electrolytes. My question is: should i try some other medicine/drugs to help this guy, or would it be better to cull him? He is eating, drinking, his poop looks normal, he is active overall, but i feel so bad for him, and i feel bad that i cant find the proper medicine to help him. We dont have any vets in my city that care about chickens and other farm animals, and to buy medicine specificaly for chickens i need to have like a permit or something, which sucks. I am trying to do everything i can, but maybe it would be better to just let him go? I dont know if he is in pain or not. If anyone knows that medicine could help him, or if anyone know what disease this might be, please help, any input is great for me, if anyond thinks that it might be better to cull, please tell.. :( thanks guys

Ps. Please note that i live in Lithuania and if i have to buy something from amazon, it has to be German amazon, because it is really expensive to buy from USA amazon for me :/

What antibiotic are you giving?

Does he have any lesions inside his beak?

You have a couple of past threads and Tylosin or Tiamulin were suggested, you can try one of those to see if those make a difference.
Continue to clean the eyes and put an ointment like Terramycin in the eyes 2X a day.

You also have another thread where you are treating Canker. Canker is contagious and birds will be carriers for life, so perhaps what you are dealing with is a combination of respiratory disease and canker.

I am not sure if he has any lesions in his mouth, i will chech for it when i come back home today.

We are giving all of our chickens an antibiotic called Trifluson (our grandpa bought it in a vet shop in a different city, it is mainly used for coccidiosis, mycoplasma and other respitory problems, because we have some chickens that are coughing/sneezing, we are giving it that antibiotic). I got a suggestion on fb group that we should try doxycycline, but i dont know if that would help?

I cannot find terramycin on german amazon, we have some medicine called tetracycline, that is used for eyes, we used it, but adter some time his face got swollen, my mom thinks it might be a side effect, but im not sure.

The chicken with canker is free of canker now, i always check her mouth once in a while, i know they are carriers for life after the disease, so i will check this birds mouth, too.

Hopefully the antibiotic will help.

If you think the eye medicine caused a reaction, I would not use it.

@LaFleche may be more familiar with ointments available to you or may be able to suggest a tea to offer supportive care.

I hope he starts to improve.
