Hello, pics attached from earlier today. 5 GLW from CT. Born 04/29/21. Big ol' run and henhouse. Free range about 4 hrs a day. Feed is Natures Best organic layer feed 16% protein. Free choice real oyster shells and egg shells. Nothing stressful or new. A quite harmonious flock really. Maybe a soft molt started with her in early Aug. i wouldnt really have noticed except feathers in run and her side feathers(name? Not the wing feathers) and tail feathers were missing here & there. I think she has only laid one egg since that soft molt in Aug. The soft molt(?) seemed to stop but has started again. I have seen new pin feathers. no other hens seem to be molting. Fast forward to earlier this week and she had yellow urine. Same exact color as an egg yolk, but more yellow than orange. During that time, she was eating probably way too many of our harvested sunflower seeds. I figured that was the cause of yellow urine (nitrates i think its called). I thought to treat the poop issue with corid in the water for 5 days. Tomorrow will be fresh water again. Fortunately, the yellow urine is gone. Fast forward 2 days ago, same gal had some swelling above one eye. I kept an eye on her and her behavior seems normal but shes always been a little less active compared to the others. (Sometimes She stands around looking dazed), but she sticks with the others and eats plenty enough. (Shes my biggest hen, hence the name Biggie) Today Tuesday the 20th, day 2 of swelling. It seems to have spread around her eye rather than isolated to the top which looked more like a little limp at first. there was a tiny bit of white puss in the corner which i wiped with a warm washcloth as well. I did a saline wash this late afternoon as well as terramycin. This evening, she was first to go roost. Shes been sleeping in the nest now a days too. She'll jump up sometimes, and one tiny push from another and she heads into nest. Tomorrow morning i will do the saline and the terramycin again. My question is: what else should i do for this swelling or in general? Thank you kindly for any advice. This learning curve is tough!
