I apologize in advance if this has already been covered. I couldn't find it.

I have a peahen with a severely swollen eye. So much so that the lid is completely covering it and you can't see the eye at all. She keeps scratching at it, and rubbing it on the grass so it's obviously bothering her. I would take her to the veterinarian, but he's closed until late next week for vacation, and he's the only one that's we've found around here that will work with them. Any ideas on the cause, and what we should do to help her? Can't get pics just yet, she's like trying to photograph a kitten on crack, I'll keep trying to get one to post.

Respiratory infections can be caused by many things, right now with all the wind we also have birds swelling up from allergies. Go to TSC or one of the farm stores and buy Tylan 200 and give 1 1/2 ml just under the skin. She should respond quickly but my need more shots for three or four days. Use a different injection site with every shot as Tylan will cause some muscle bruising.

Thanks. We have the Tylan here, just wasn't sure if she needed it or something else, or what it could be. Never had one do it before. Going out to give the shot now. Again, thank you.
