Swollen Eye

no worse is definitely a good thing! Got everything crossed for her

It's good she is eating and exploring around the yard without a care. It's not been 24 hours yet so fingers and toes crossed she will start healing. Please keep me updated as I do care and think you are a wonderful person for taking care of and rescuing those in need.

Hiya, No improvement, eye worse, hardly eating. I think it was caught too late really. Hopefully my other 2 ex bats will be ok as they would have been vaccinated in the battery. Finding the quarantine really stressful. My other girls are crying to come out into the garden and i feel guilty that they are all being kept in. Even Martha wants to get out! Think I will have to make a descision very soon. I don't want her suffering. xx:(

No we wouldn't want her to suffer. I am so so sorry I was so hoping she was doing better today. Lets not give up just yet though it's only been what two days on her meds right. Keeping you all in my prayers.

If it's an abscess it needs to be opened and debrided--a culture and sensitivity needs to be done to be sure that the antibiotic you are using is actually one to which the bacteria in question are sensitive. Are you dealing w/ a real avian vet or just a dog/cat vet? If the latter, I recommend trying to find a good avian/exotics vet in your area. You can search here:

Thinking good thoughts for Martha!!

Hiya, thanks for link but am in the uk. It is a vet with some knowledge of avians. When should she start showing signs of improvment x

wet a wash cloth with hot water, not to hot to burn her face as hot as she can handle. Wring it out and hold on her face for as long as she will let you or till it cools off and repeat.
