My duck Polly has been worked on at home for bumble and then we went to the vet and had clavamox prescribed a week ago Monday. At that time the vet said she looked good and he cleaned out the initial infection site, which was right by the toenail. She's been on antibiotics all week and I also soaked and applied neosporin until the infection site seemed all healed up. But midway through the week the side of the web got really swollen and she limps a tiny bit. Has anyone experienced anything like this (pics attached)
? I would LOVE to not go back to the vet. It's costing crazy money and nothing ever seems to get resolved there. I sent the doc pictures yesterday and he gave so many options my head spins and makes me worried. Here's what he said:
"I don't like the look of the swelling and possibly a slight bend to the toe? There could be joint infection, bone infection or fracture. I would recommend either scheduling an appointment if I have one available or if you can drop off for me to evaluate I work 1pm-6pm Wed-Friday this week. If you drop off by 1pm I can work in X-ray and potentially start on new meds in addition to clavamox or instead of it. I might be able to accept back un-opened clavamox if we don't use it at all so bring what you have with you too if you want. We may do a doxycycline injection or perhaps oral TMS. Keep using the Clavamox in the mean time. If you don't want to let me do radiographs of the foot just tell the receptionist about this email and say you need to schedule a 15 min Doxycycline injection as a work in apt or side apt when I am there and we can get that done in the next few days. If you don't want a 7 day doxy injection (would have to be repeated) I cold have TMS filled (oral liquid 1.3 ml twice daily) for you to pick up."
