My girls have always been prone to bumble foot, therefore I have treated them quite a few times.

However; about 2-3 weeks ago, one of my hen’s feet were swollen. I soaked her feet in epsom salt 2xs a day for a week or so. No improvement.

One of my others hens has a slightly swollen foot too…I also treated her for bumblefoot.

I then treated her bumble foot…It’s been 3 days and her feet have not gone down, but the bumblefoot looks better?

During my bumblefoot treatment, for my hens I notice that they get bandage burn (a red rash that makes their feet sore), even though I don’t wrap their feet tightly, after 3 days of wearing bandages. So, to allow their feet to heal, I always take the bandages off.

What should I do? Is this gout, or just a result of bump foot?!

How can I help her?!!

This hen still lays eggs and such also.

Doesnt sound like you actually treated them for bumblefoot. Here is a good article, you need to remove the plug. https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/bumblefoot-treatment.72887/

Did you pull the plug out? Did you wrap the leg? The infection is from the bumblefoot.
Yes, I believe I did, because there was blood at the end of the operation. I didn’t want to go too deeply into her foot, but I pulled some gunky stuff out.

I always wrap the leg and change bandages once daily or every two days.

I guess I will have to operate again.

Also, what about the bandage rash, from the bandage rubbing? The hens don’t want to walk when their feet are like that

Do you have vetericyn and pain killer FREE neosporin? It keeps the feet from getting infected.
