Hi everyone Im pretty much new to this coturnix breeding and I've been doing pretty good.

But here's my question. How would a coturnix get a swollen head overnight? Can it be a desease? I just found it right now and separated from the rest. The thing is I don't really know what it is. Does anybody know anything about this.

I would just cull it but I wana know what it might be just to be aware.

Thanks!

Are you sure it isnt its eye swelling (or both)? I had this happen to my first ever batch of coturnix around the same age too. They actually started getting cataracts in their eyes during it as well. I separated all the sick ones (because one got sick then many others got sick) I put terraymycin ointment in their eyes, and also gave them a smaller than 1 cc shot of tetracycline in the thigh... (be careful if you do this as you can damage their leg) and within just days the swelling went down and they were fine and perky!!!

I still to this day have no idea what was wrong, they had no other symptoms, ate, drank and everything just couldn't see. It was the first and last time ive ever seen it. I was so scared i'd see it again since it seemed like a virus...it was only one batch of eggs from the same source htat i got it from my other birds were fine so very unsure what i experienced but it sounds like that's what you're dealing with.

Edited to add: their cataracts went away as well...

otherwise if it's only one and the eyes look fine i'd say it bonked it's head BAD.

They're goldens, coturnix, and rosetas or tibetan don really know but still I will try to post pics. Thanks for your help!
