Hi! New to ducks. Have raised chickens...

4 week old Peking can’t walk, leg is very swollen. Also wondering if all this bare skin is normal?

I’ve read a lot of posts on here that have been helpful in the past! Looking forward to being a let if the community!

Our brooder is 4x4 with 20 ducks. Pine shaving for bedding. We lay new bedding everyday day or two and change once a week.
They eat organic chicken starter with brewers yeast at 3 cups/1 tbs ratio. This particular chic can not walk. We noticed a couple of others with swelling feet not as bad.

We just took the worst of the two and bathed them in warm water and and Epson compress.

4x4 for 20 Pekins I am thinking is pretty tight. This little one and all the others need help ASAP best way to give it to them is with Durvet liquid b complex TSC carries it these that have swelling and can’t walk need to be given separately so they get a full dose each are you familiar with oral med for poultry how to give it? They will need half mil over a special treat like meal worms or peas or diced tomatoes but something that is tasty so they get full dose.

That's way too small for 20 ducks which may be the reason balding is occurring pretty bad on the ones back, I suggest you start them on Liquid B, the one @Miss Lydia provided and get them in a bigger brooder.

Thanks everyone!

Ok, we are going to get the vitamin B stuff ASAP.

I’ll figure out a bigger brooder as well. I have a greenhouse that chickens lived in all winter. I also have an old chicken cage probably 50 sf. Could I put them in the cage in the greenhouse? The ground was covered with wood chips back in the fall for the chickens. We still have cold nights here below freezing though...

I’m not familiar with poultry medicating any tips are helpful!

Can you use heat lamp or some type of heater in your green house. I am thinking any more with bare skin sure don't need to be outside if still cold out. I'd get them into a large brooder till you can move them outside.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...dications-to-all-poultry-and-waterfowl.73335/ Best way to give the liquid b is over a treat they love. I'd dose them all since they are all Pekins and prone to leg issues from niacin deficiency.
