I’m new to this, and would like some input. My most friendly duck seems to have a swollen vent area. She’s usually the first to come for treats and this morning she didn’t. She looks uncomfortable. Sort of hunched over, moving slower. She will eat, but only if I come to hand feed her special treats. She lives in a mixed flock with chickens and other ducks. Everyone else is fine. They have access to a kiddie pool that gets changed out every 2 days, so she does have water/bathing access. She is near laying age. She’s about 5 months, no eggs yet that I know of though.

Think this is an infection? Egg bound? I was thinking I’d separate her and monitor her. Epsom salt baths? Can I spray vetrycin on it? Is something else better?

Any help is appreciated!

Edit. She is eggbound with first ever egg. It is right near the vent opening, but she still hasn't passed it nearly 24 hours later. Took her to the vet and he said she is stable and it's not life threatening at the moment. Gave her a shot of oxytocin and am told to bring her back if an egg isn't produced within the day. If anyone has experience with oxytocin and if it helped your bird, I would love to know! She seems more comfortable, but isn't seeming to be trying to lay, which is odd to me. Thought it was supposed to induce some movement, but she's just laying down looking more comfortable than she has all weekend.
