T-Bone is our new rooster but i need some help figuring out just what he is. I bought him at
Tractor Supply this spring when he was just two days old. For a while he looked normal just like all the others that were with him but about 2 weeks of age when you glanced at all of the chicks he stood out with crazy HUGE legs and feet so I immediatly claimed him as our mascot. Tractor Supply told us all they knew was that they were an assortment of brown egg layers AND that they were all PULLETS:), So i guess it was kinda fate i ended up with him because I get attatched in a heartbeat so i was able to change his destiny, We had already agreed that all the roosters that we ended up with in our straigt runs would be going in the freezer. As you can see in the photos he towers above all the other chick. The pic with the white hen beside him is his sister that came with him, as you can see he is twice her size. For a while we thought he was a cornigh rock but I read up on those and he dont fit the decription he IS very active, he runs, forages and gets on the roost at night, he acts just like a normal chick. He is about 5 weeks old in the pics. So any ideas?
Thanks, Nancy

Yes I just though that name was fitting because my husband and I and a friend are building a pen to raise some meat birds for the freezer and although he started looking like a cornish cross Im hoping he's not and he turns out to be a plymoth rock, so far he is very active and even had a bit of a challenge yesterday and won. I claimed him as our yard rooster and saved him from the freezer because I was amazed with his extreme growth. It kinda went with the cows that are on the chic fillet vans and signs I figured I would give him a disguising name:). As u can see he can be quite the couch potato, how could you not fall in love with that!

This is Spanky my OEG, a dog caught him when he was younger and thats why his waddles are missing but he's my little buddy. He loves to talk to the ladies while your holding him so I brought him in for some pic's thinking he would pay attention to me but as you can see he was just a vocal in the house. The feathers missing from his breast are from walking and rubbing the fence all day trying to get in the hen house, he loves his ladies or he says they are his!

Great story and great looking bird. I'd go with Plymoth since the Cornish X seem to have less feathers (I know mine do).

As for the second roo,.. Don't know If that would ever happen in my house.

I'd guess Spanky would get smashed just like the alarm clock does at 4am

Thanks for the reply, Im going with white rock to, I have searched and searched and it leads me back to the white rock, and you guys might think Im crazy for even caring but the reason is Im scared to get too attatched if indeed he turns out a cornish because they say they dont do well when they get older because of their legs but he seems to be past the stage that starts to give trouble. And as far as Spanky, thats funny even the kids thought I was crazy to have him in here at 4am but it was really 4pm, I didnt even realize what time it was until the pic's came out but it worked out perfect. Thanks Guys!
