T or F? Banties vary widely is size

I'm still wondering how I can have received 25 banty cochins in September and some are half the size of the others. Is this normal? Some are, literally, just hand-size now.

Well, as someone who owns one of those super-tiny Cochin bantams, I'd say yes, they just vary; it's due to the genetics of the parent stock, probably. Then there are just some who are runts, period. My little self blue Cochin, Shadow, is a good bit smaller than all the other Cochin bantams I've seen at the feedstore.

I would say they may vary some, but it shouldn't be a wide variation. Bantams have a size requirement just like standard sized birds do and they should fall somewhere around that size by maturity.

Thanks. It confuses me all the more thatI received both the Feather-footed Fancies and these cochin bantams on the same day, so maybe some of the bantams I think are so much bigger are also standards-in-waiting. But I do, indeed, have a couple of either runts or super-small cochins of some color I've never seen before, kind of birchin (light colored) hackles atop a tannish color. They're my smallest. I won't have to worry about overcrowding with this group around. They're adorable. I'll check to see what the size requirement is - very curious.
