I Love that show. It studies different cultures and talks about what is acceptable in one culture is Taboo in another. It covers everything from food to tattoos, to initiation into adulthood ceremonies.

who else watches taboo? What is your favorite episode? (keep it clean since some of the topics Taboo cover are, of course, Taboo)

yup I like it...

not sure I cold pick a favorite. just like the learning...I do like it better when they actually got to other countries and such verses showing folks in here in the US that do stuff. To me that isn't culture just different. Now when they show changes and such like the acceptance of body modification I guess that is a little different. Folks just being extreme or doing it for profit don't interest me.

I like it too! Dont have a favorite, but I have a few I'm not fond of. I think its because I dont agree with what some of the people are doing. I feel bad for some of the young people that come from tribes that require major pain intiations to become 'Men', or the disfigurement of young women who dont always want to do it (lip plates etc). I'm all for diversity and respecting other cultures, but geez, somethings seem a bit harsh, especially considering some of those people die from infection.

The show is pretty cool though- I wish there were more new episodes!

new episodes are showing again. two new ones have come out so far, one was about women going to extremes to change their bodies and the other was " fantasy lives' and not in the naughty way. that episode was sad, like the one where the woman who couldn't have children started adopting baby dolls and treating them as if they were real. she is so doting, she really wants to be a mom.

Bloodsports. It was the first episode I got into, actually. Personally I hate their take on bullfighting, as for one they show the horse section of it, which is the most unfair and lacking in "art" and frankly there's no focus on the bulls at all, they should have instead done the traditional on-foot type, but, whatever.

The cockfighting section was interesting too. I just wish, again, they were more open to showing the different forms, such as naked-heeled, which is practiced in the rest of the world (not North and Central America)

I liked watching the program, but my cable company has decided I don't get National Geographic Channel anymore.

I'll have to check their website for uploaded episodes. I wouldn't mind if they did a more in depth look on some things, regional episodes around the same topic like tattoos, beauty or manhood/womanhood. I think that would allow for more information to be put into an episode. That would allow a better understanding on different cultures and why they are so varied in how they view the world.

An issue I can see them possibly having with the show is ratings. There are a few 'look at these weirdos' shows popping up, like Strange Addictions, that have more entertainment value than educational purpose. It's a lot like a side show sometimes, people flock to see the freaks, not learn about who they are and why they appear the way they do.

I don't mind bullfighting in a natural way without the hooks and darts of the colorful sticks they stab into the meaty part of the withers. Portugal is the only country that I know of doesn't do it. Spain is now trying to outlaw bull fighting.

I love watch the horse dancing with a "caped" horned bull. Such dance for each other! Beauty and art of the old time of Spanish days. I had my favorite bull fighters, Manolete and Antonio Ordenez and all that jazz of all the stuff I've read back in late 70s to HS. Paintings and artwork I did, it was beautiful, the colors, the dare, the bold act between man and beast but one will die. Unfortunately the bull dies just about everytime, rarely they ever pardon one. Good thing that the killed bulls goes to the poor people and homeless shelters, and anyone that don't have much money. Yeah, they are tough eating but simmer for a very long time, they said its tender!

I've watched those shows and enjoyed them. I cringed everytime a male gets cut or circumized to become a man. I didnt see one for women.
