Two weeks ago I accidentally broke an egg removing the cover. Since I had nothing to lose I took some Duct Tap and covered the hole. Today I have a bouncing baby chick, Taffy Duct!

Amazing.

I think as long as the membrane isn't punctured, you're OK!

I just had a beautiful Partridge Silkie hatch from an egg I thought was a dud. It had a hole in the bottom of the egg, so I turned it upside down so I'd remember to give it a toss..... well I forgot, and a few days later I herd a lot of churping. Poor little thing was hatching upside down, was dried out and just a mess. 2 days later it's still alive although I had to treat it for spraddle leg.
