tagged canadian pigeons? Seagulls? what are these? :)

Was in Montreal yesterday and saw the parking lot was full of very short fat seagull-like birds that were just sitting on the ground. I am used to the larger seagulls that I have seen in both california and NY and I almost never see a hundred or so of those just sitting around

. No big deal, but I took a pic of one and noticed they had leg bands. Are these protected birds of some sort?

Yah, I figured - I don't see an exotic birds section but I'll try to find a better forum for it. I don't know squat about anything but chickens, but I thought it interesting that they had leg bands on.

Only thing I ever shot and couldn't eat. Dog wouldn't eat it either.

Even pressure cooked.
