Tail bleeding?

Hey everyone,

So today I noticed that Owen, my six year old, has a pretty bloody spot on his tail. It seems like it's not coming from the train feathers, but the actual tail feathers underneath the train... I'm not sure though, there was a big splotch of blood and I couldn't tell exactly where it was coming from. He seems to be acting the same, but it just really caught me off guard.
He's had to stay inside with the kids for the past week or so, I only let them out when it's relatively warm, which it hasn't been in a few weeks, so I've let them out when I can. Did he catch it on something and just pull out or break a feather? Is this something I should be concerned about?

He could have broken a feather like you said...I have even had a peachick break one if its nails and then that gets some blood on the chick that broke the nail and the other chicks.

I would keep an eye on him though just to make sure he isn't pecking at himself or anything like that.

Thanks! I just had to make sure. I will certainly keep an eye on him. I gave them some scrambled eggs topped with plain greek yogurt today. They went NUTS over it.

I had the same thing happen to my sadness batch of peas, i noticed that they pecked the area as well as the others once in a while, i put some purple lotion on them and that stopped the others for a few days but they still picked their own tail so i upped their protine intake and they stopped, they now have pretty tails for the first time sence i got them.

Thanks zaz! I've been giving them scrambled eggs and Greek yoogurt when I let them outside in the morning so hopefully that'll help.
