Take a guess.....

x2 The one in the last picture is a cockerel.

Will you ellaborate?

What would you like elaborated ?

And like hdowden said, if you bought "Ameraucanas" from a feedstore/hatchery, then they are Easter Eggers, not Ameraucanas and that's why the pics aren't matching when you look up real Ameraucans. Also if you got lots of color variations then that's anither sure sign of EEs because Amerucanas come in set defined colors ( black,white,buff,wheaten,silver,ect..)

What is it about the bird that makes you say cockerel? I'm not challenging your oppinion

I'm truly curious and still have a lot to learn.

After looking through the genetics boards a little, I see what you mean about them not being real Ameraucanas but being sold as such.

Thanks, that's good to know. Later, when I get better at all this I'll start buying from breeders for better quality. For now, I don't know enough to tell the difference so I'm content with the mutts

There Production Reds [not Rhode Island Reds or Welsummers]

In picture one the bird at the top is a male [comb and tail is a give away] the other one in the picture I believe is a female, hard to tell from the picture.

You can tell he's a boy by the size and color of his comb at this young age, and I can see some shiny baby saddle feathers coming in between his wings on his back. And the tail.

Yes, one's tail is more pronounced than the other's, same with the comb. They both have small waddles coming in but the larger one's area little bigger. The feathers are different on the larger one as well; longer in some places, like the shoulders and back.

I figured that one might just be older since I know nothing of their origins.

I've suspected the larger one to be a roo for a few days but bc of variations in the bloodline or whatever, there's no set of standards to compare it to.

On another note, I just brought home four two-weekers from the other local feedstore and lord knows what they really are. I know what the lady told me they are but they don't look anything like what she said they are. I suppose they are all some variation of what they are being called. WTH do I know anyways?

You're welcome.

And you may want to check out this FeatherSite page. He's grouped RIR and Production Reds together, but you'll be able to see the differences, both between the breeds and between the males and females. http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry//CGP/Reds/BRKRIR.html

Hey
.. Now that you've told us about the new ones you do know you're going to have to post pictures, right?
