Anywho, a bunch of you all have been asking for pictures of the fair, so I figured I might as well just make a post of it here instead of pming a bunch of pictures to folks that asked. So.

General overview

Wilmington, NC
My BFF and I, @fandomtrash8 went to a fair this past Monday through Wednesday. We went trick-or-treating on Halloween night, I a Tree goddess, (I think, she was my costume designer) and she a Demon Hunter, though everybody thought she was a inmate. On our way into town, we went to the beach, and then we went to get sushi. On Tuesday we spent all morning volunteering and got free passes into the fair. There were chickens, geese, ducks, a lonely guinea, and a pair of turkeys. Basically heaven....we got coffee on the way home and basically just had an overall blast! Oh, and I made a new BYC friend! @Peepchirpquack

I have a love affair with sushi. Especially Spider Rolls. That seaweed salad was stuck in my teeth for a long time....LOL

This is not a great picture, but here is a Frizzle hen.

This one said it was a Silkie rooster, but I don't think it was a full blooded silkie. But he was purty!

If I am remembering correctly, I think these two cuties were some variety of Maran...

Beautiful beach pictures...I have to say, I like living in WY but I do miss the beaches after living in FL.

Oh, living next to a beach sounds amazing, though the cons are things like excessively hot and humid, dealing with hurricanes, though I don't know why I'm naming these to you, you already know!

I was very impressed by the quality of many of the birds, especially compared to my sorry hatchery stock! But hey, a chicken is a chicken, and I love my babies.

Gee, this view looks awfully familiar, doesn't it?

Sorry that we have apparently not met - my daughter BB2K and I have been part of the "fair family" for many, many years.

If you were there on Halloween, you must at least have noticed the miniature horse with the pink mane - that's BB2K's Blondie.

Not critiquin' your pics, or anythin', but I think you missed some of the best birds. Like that gorgeous Heritage RIR, or BB2K's adorable little Serama pullet Stella. Stella is one of the most cuddly chickens I have ever seen; she has spent an amazing amount of time snuggling with one person or another or just snoozing on shoulders. Or the Buff Laced Polish roo that is an absolute Houdini - I know he has escaped at least twice, and led us all a merry chase (I swear, I think that bird is part road runner!)



These are the only 'birds' I entered this year (lol!); they took first and second in their class, respectively.

Oh, wow, so sorry we did not meet! Man, like ships in the night! I did miss a bunch of very good birds, I really want to add some later, I was just running out of time. I did love little Stella, I had the privilege to hold her while someone else cleaned her cage! And yep, met the pink horse , I got a kick out of the horse, and the "cotton candy" ducks. I will post pictures of the ones I missed later......hopefully. I got to hold that rooster...geez Belize, he was feisty! I love those pillows, how cute! I'm glad you liked em! I wish I coulda taken em out into a field with leaves and flowers, THEN I would have gotten some good pictures! The insides of a tent and a cage just don't make good backgrounds.....

Awww, yeah the lights were horrible, they made everybody's faces look purple, and those poor roosters combs were a blueberry color! Glad I got pics while there was natural light!

I have never had the desire to eat sushi since most of it smells like a raw fish market but I have to admit your pics were very tempting!!!

The White Silkie is definitely a full Silkie.

However, the pretty Birchen colored roo with the single comb was not a pure Silkie - someone crossbred him but he IS gorgeous!

The so-called Ameraucana looks suspiciously more like an Easter Egger unless there is a new APA color I don't know about?!

If those are Marans they are Cuckoo Marans -- the American Cuckoo Marans don't have feathered legs. We named our Cuckoo "Morticia" or "Tish" for short after the French-speaking Morticia Addams from "The Addams Family" but our Cuckoo was a mean 7-lb bully -- maybe since she was an American Cuckoo Marans she was upset with the French name we gave her?!
