The LA County health department has a quiz to see how your kitchen stacks up to a restaurant grade inspection
http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/phcommon/public/eh/fsquiz/

I scored 91% which earns me an "A rating.

The 2 I failed on were that I do not remove my jewelry when cooking and I sometimes forget to store raw meat in the bottom drawer.
And I know better.

I got a B because we eat "medium rare" meat in our home, and I love sushi. I also don't take off jewlery unless i'm working with dough. I also answered no to cooking meat until the juices run clear...although I do that for chicken and such, I do not always do that for beef!

Oh well, I know my kitchen is clean

I got a 93! I don't know what I missed...didn't go back to look. Cool quiz though. We don't eat raw anything. The idea of sushi turns my stomach.

I guess that would get a few people though. It's strange how many things effect the outcome of this quiz that you would not even think about. I didn't think anything about my jewelry. I just take it off because that's how mom taught me to do it...and ya listen to mom!

Cindiloohoo) Sushi is soooo good, but I will admit, if it weirds you out your mind will never let you get over that!! Everyone that I had go out and eat sushi with me, and was willing to give it a go and wouldn't think it would make them sick, is now hooked. However if someone was iffy about it, they couldn't eat it without over thinking it, and never could like it. I do occassionally make sushi in my home, but I am very VERY imparative to the fish being FRESH. Which is a lot of the time, not. In that case I cook the fish and it's still just as good

It is weird that they dock you for eating "medium" or "medium rare" meat...most people do!!!

I scored a 85% on the test.

I do not eat fully cooked steaks, I like medium well done or medium rare, depending on the cut.

I do not have a temperature gauge for my refigerator nor I need one, its so cold that it takes DAYS for my frozen items to thaw out in the refigerator.

I do not leave food out for more than 30 minutes, all of them are poured in bowls or cans and stored away. Or frozen if I have too much of it.

I do not refigerate my eggs out for more than a week directly from nest to counter. After a week, I would put them in the refigerator.

AND I do eat raw eggs ONLY in raw cookie dough mixes and cake batter, licking the bowl clean! I would not trust the store bought eggs for licking pleasures!

I got an 84 because I like bloody steaks, I forget to store eggs and meat on lower shelves, my fridge doesn't have a thermometer in it, and apparently because it's bad to have a hole or two in your old vinyl flooring.

Eeek, I leave the door open without a screen all the time to the balcony, don't take off jewelry unless I'm kneading dough or mixing meat with hands, don't cook all meats like beef and ocean fish, do leave my lunches out of the fridge 4+ hours before I eat it at work (stored in my desk), I don't rapid cool food with ice water baths, do leave boiled herbal soups in pots overnight on the stove with cover on like my mom always has done (do reboil it!), our 50lb of rice sits on the floor, don't always refrigerate eggs, I don't microwave (sanitize) my sponge daily, I don't have a thermometer in the fridge all the time... guess it's amazing I've never gotten sick, must have an iron stomach!

Looks ready to eat to me! It tasted SOOO good!

I like the question "do you eat undercooked eggs?" - That's loaded, isn't it? No, as far as I am concerned my eggs are perfectly cooked (or in some cases not cooked at all), and they are as they should be for the purpose, and not "undercooked" in any way

I got 80-something, mostly, I assume, because I like sushi, rare beef, raw oysters, and "undercooked" eggs. And I don't have a thermometer in the 'fridge - though I do in the freezers.
