WOW! This reminds me of that discovery special where they cut a hole in a chicken egg to genetically alter the chick. It was about dinos and they were trying to show how birds could evolve or something... Any way the egg developed all the way but it didn't show it hatch. They just put tape over the crack. I assume wax is better. Go Little chickie GO!

Maybe the crack just stunted it's growth or something?

When I locked down the bator yesterday I had one egg that looked like that (minus the crack) in fact it had such open space that I figured it had stopped also - but just as I about pulled it - there was a lot of movement.

I'm thinking these are the runty chickens

I think it stopped developing. It looks like too much space in there to be an 18 day old embryo.

I disagree. Most of mine have that much space at day 18. Remember they still grow for the next 3 days. They don't usually TOTALLY fill the egg. I always hope they don't get that big because they have difficulty getting into hatching position.​

Im hoping it works. I just put an egg in the incubator 4 days ago with a crack like that. Maybe it will work.
