Taming Chicks

It depends, some chicks will fall for the dead ones, most won't though.
As far as them seeing you, can they see all of you toe to head?
Seeing how you move especially your feet helps tremendously, that is on their level.
As corny as this sounds, you have to think like a chicken. Even with mom unless she makes effort the thing they see the most is feet.:)
will dead mealworms do as i have tonnes of them....my chicks just squeak and shout at you until you put them down.....they can see me when i stand over the cage alright.....

I don't treat my little ones, but I do hold them. Try sitting and holding them kind of rolled up in the bottom of your shirt like a snug pouch. Mine quiet right down, talk to themselves and go to sleep. You can keep talking to them so they hear your voice and learn it.

We had luck when they were in the brooder, just grabbing handfuls of their chick feed, and holding it in our hands. They eventually got very curious, and would start eating out of our hands. We'd do that every day and talk softly to them and they got VERY accustomed to us. Now a few like to fly on us and perch temporarily on a knee or shoulder, but for the most part they don't like to be picked up. But they stay very close, and are very social from spending that early time with them.
