Taming the chicks

Its been a long time since I posted an update but I could go for a little chicken positivity today :)

All of the ladies are doing great. Everyone is starting to fill out a little bit and get nice red combs and wattles. Still no eggs.... I think they've figured out living rent-free is a viable option

And a video for fun:

How do you catch them? Mine will come up to me, eat from my hand, maybe get on my lap for treats, but for me to put my hands around them or pick them up? No way.

I can only speak for myself, but I'd snatch them up when they got close to get treats. Except for Chacha (the blue one). If I offered treats and just moved really slowly she'd let me scoop her up, but even she wasn't a big fan of being held for more than a few seconds.

They still don't love being held and I don't think ever really will. I got them as 2-month-old pullets so I missed the chance to really socialize them. But they are pretty friendly all things considered, they will hop into my lap if I'm sitting in the run, even without snacks.

I think just sitting in the run when you have time and not messing with them builds a lot of trust. They get used to you being there and don't mind coming to hang out, at least that's been my experience!
