Tampa

Tampa City Counsel voted 6-1 to change the requirements for keeping chickens.

Don't celebrate just yet. All the Tampa CIty Council did was vote in favor of moving forward with making some kind of change. Remember, chicken ownership in Tampa has always been legal, it's the ridiculous restrictions that the City Council put in place years ago which make it practically impossible. When we see the restrictions loosened to the point that AVERAGE residents with small tracts of land can reasonably own five hens, then this battle will be won.

I know it's crazy!! yes you can have them...BUT!!! really 200 feet away from houses!!? lol My coop is more like 20 feet! hahahaha

This is a great step forward. Hope to Join Pinellas soon w/o restrcitions :)

I am in unincorporated Hillsborough County. I am hoping that Hillsborough soon will allow chickens like in Pinellas. People who come to our house are surprised how easy and clean my chickens are. They are quieter than a dog, less poop than a dog, and doesn't spray on things like a cat. Mine really have been ideal pets and have changed the minds of some people I know.
